Cherry Blossoms Watching has become a culture in Taiwan. Every year from January to April, locals and tourists specifically travel around the country for cherry blossom sightseeing. Out of the many viewing locations, my personal favorite is Wuling Farm.
I stayed at Hoya Resort Hotel Wuling in the family room. This is the closet hotel in Wuling Farm that is within walking distance to many attractions. Be careful not to leave your hotel room windows open as Formosan Rock Monkeys will invade your space and take your belongings. And trust me, you will not win in a fight with them.
DAY 1: We left early morning from Taipei City and drove almost 4 hours to Wuling Farm. Along the drive up the mountain, we were greeted by manicured landscapes of Cherry Blossoms. Unfortunately, it rained the whole week before our trip so a lot of the cherry blossoms were on the ground instead of on the tree branches. Upon arriving at the hotel, the concierge had planned out our 3 days trips with a waterfall hike on the first day. This was a huge mistake because we were all too tired and sore from the hike that none of us wanted to do anymore walking afterwards. Thank God for the hotel’s Yake Hydrotherapy Spa, otherwise, we wouldn’t have been able to walk for the rest of the trip.
DAY 2: I started off the day watching sunrise at Xueshan Trailhead Service Station [雪山主峰線 (大水池登山口)]. The location is known for many iconic photographs of Wuling Farm. I later joined the complimentary guided tour from the tourist center and learned alot about the history of how the farm was originally established to provide employment for retired military men. All thanks to our former President, Chiang Kai-shek, who developed the country and provided jobs to everyone.
DAY3: I drove one hour north from Wuling Farm to Fushoushan Farm and visited Qianyingyuan Ecological Landscape Park (千櫻園生態景觀園區). The Park was filled with endless cherry blossoms for miles to see. In fact, it had way more cherry blossoms than Wuling Farm. If I had it my way, I would live here forever like the Goddess in the hit Chinese tv show, Eternal Love (三生三世十里桃花).
