My Friends’ Inspired Bedroom

My Friends’ Inspired Bedroom

One of my favorite TV shows of all time is Friends. Even though the beloved tv show aired when I was only 3 years, it is still wildly relatable to my everyday life with my friends. I grew up working only towards one career track, sacrificed every college breaks doing internships only to decide to pursue another career track after college then got diagnosed with cancer in early my 20s and became in a long distance relationship with my boyfriend since I had to go back to Taiwan for treatments. So definitely no one told me life was going to be this way. But one thing stayed constant and that is: my friends have always been there for me.

Since my sudden move back to Taiwan, I have been really homesick. Even though I FaceTimed my boyfriend and friends almost every single day, I still relied on binge-watching Friends to get through the day. So when I started remodeling my bedroom, I decided to go with Monica’s purple living room theme. Even though the show is still hugely popular with my generation, the interior design is certainly out of date. I’ve always consider myself like Rachel but I definitely have Monica’s OCD. Thus, sparked my creative design.

Like Monica, I’m a neat freak obsessed with organization. I normally have photos of my friends on the shelves but I took them off for this photo in respect for their privacy. I also read a lot so it’s really important for me to have enough book space without cluttering up the shelves so most of my books are stored in the cabinets.

My dream work station. I love sitting here editing photos, writing blogs, and binge-watching Friends while drinking coffee/ tea.

Since I suffer from insomnia, I try to make the bedroom as calming as possible. I usually fall asleep to humidifier with lavender oil. The entire bed set is purchased on Amazon: silk pillow cases, 1000 thread count sheets, and Kate Spade duvet set.

I love having friends over so it’s really important for me to have a seating area in my room.

Like Rachel, I’ve always loved fashion. So when it came designing my closet, I wanted it to be as glamorous as possible without losing the purple theme. So I carried the same purple wallpaper from the bedroom onto the closet with floor-to-ceiling cabinets, spaces to showcase handbags, a glam mirror to try on clothes with a vanity stool to try on shoes.

I wanted to carry over the purple theme into the bathroom so I installed the purple mosaic on the walls in addition to the lilac cabinets. I also really enjoy taking bath like Monica and Chandler. haha
