An enchanting mountain village at the foot of the Schilthorn peak that is accessible by train and cableway only. We took a cableway to the beautiful village from Lauterbrunnen. The village was so unbelievably gorgeous like straight out of fairytales; actually no, it’s like where fairytales originated. You would not believe it unless you see it for yourself.
When we first arrived, I thought we would be going to a local cafe for brunch; however, non of the restaurants were open. So I was pretty much hangry the whole time until I got to throw snow in Bradley’s face. After all, he was the reason I didn’t eat anything before we left since he wanted to save his appetite for Piz Gloria (a 360° rotating restaurant at the peak of Bernese Alps). I mean, I didn’t have my morning cup of coffee!
Next time we come back, we’re going to do it the right way. I’m going to buy so many granola bars from amazon before the travels and never listen to my boyfriend about skipping meals again. Apparently, most of the tourists were staying there overnight to wait out the storm and then going up to Schilthorn the next morning. Which is something we should’ve done given the unpredicted weather. We were planning on heading up to Schilthorn after Murren but due to the unstable weather at the time, they had stopped transportations from heading up the mountain. But Schilthorn is definitely on our bucket list for next time, after all we HAVE to visit where James Bond was filmed and eat the 007 burger!
For ticket information for Murren, click here. Next time, I’m getting the “Mürren – Schilthorn incl. James Bond Brunch” return ticket. Table reservations are required, so make sure to not forget it. Trust me, you don’t want to fly all the way over there and miss out on this experience just because of reservation issues.
